Recorder Badges

Badges celebrate your recording milestones and your help to other members. They’re shown on your dashboard, on your public profile and on the app’s Home tab.

The Badges

  • Recorder: observations recorded
  • Species Hunter: different species recorded
  • Verified: confirmed observations
  • Habitat Explorer: different habitats recorded in
  • County Explorer: vice counties recorded in
  • All Seasons: recording in spring, summer, autumn and winter
  • Research Grade: observations that reach Research Grade on iNaturalist
  • Helpful: agreements and ID suggestions on other recorders’ observations
  • Identifier: for members trusted to confirm other recorders’ identifications

Most badges have several levels, and you move up as your numbers grow.

Seeing Your Badges

  • Website: open your Dashboard from the menu under your name. Hover over or tap a badge to see what it’s for and what the next level needs.
  • App: your earned badges are shown on the Home tab. Tap a badge to see what it’s for.
  • Your public profile shows your badges to other members. See Your Dashboard and Public Profile.

Only badges you’ve earned are shown, so there’s always something new to work towards.

How Badges Are Counted

Badges use the same figures as your dashboard, and they update as you record. A new confirmation or observation can take a short while to show up in your badges.

Tip: The quickest route to new badges is to get out recording in different places, habitats and seasons, and to help others with their identifications when you’re confident.
