Keep your details up to date, add a photo and bio, and choose your default privacy, licence and email settings.
Opening Your Settings
- Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner of the website.
- Select Settings.
Your Details
- Display Name: the name shown on your observations, comments and public profile.
- Email Address: used to log in and for notifications. Each email address can only be used for one account.
- First Name and Last Name.
- Profile Picture: upload a JPG or PNG image up to 2MB. Square images work best.
- Bio: a few lines about yourself for other members.
- Show my public profile: untick this to hide your public profile page. There’s a link here to View your public profile.
Click Save Changes when you’re done.
Changing Your Password
- Scroll to Change Password.
- Enter your new password (at least 8 characters) in New Password and again in Confirm New Password.
- Click Save Changes.
Privacy Settings
- Default Location Privacy: Open, Obscured or Private. This is applied to new observations unless you choose something different when recording. See Setting Your Default Privacy.
- Default License: CC BY or CC BY-NC for your new observations and photos. See Understanding Observation Licenses.
iNaturalist and Notifications
- Connect to iNaturalist links your iNaturalist account so you can export observations. See Connecting to iNaturalist.
- Notification Settings lets you choose your emails. See Email Notifications.
In the App
Tap the Me tab, then the cog icon to open Settings. From there you can:
- Tap Edit Profile to change your first name, last name and display name. Email changes are made on the website.
- Set your Default Location Privacy.
- Choose your Appearance: Light, Dark or System default.
- Turn Log in with Face ID (or Touch ID or fingerprint) on or off.
- Read the Terms, Privacy Policy and licences, log out, or delete your account.
