If you see an ID suggestion that’s abusive, spam or otherwise inappropriate, you can flag it for the moderators. Flagging helps keep Field Mycologist UK a friendly place.
What to Flag
Flag suggestions or suggestion comments that are:
- Abusive: personal attacks, insults or harassment
- Spam: adverts or irrelevant links
- Off-topic: nothing to do with the observation
- Deliberately misleading
Please don’t flag something just because you disagree with the ID. Disagreement is a normal part of identification. Suggest your own ID or reply with your reasoning instead.
How to Flag
- On the website, find the suggestion in the observation’s Activity section.
- Click the flag icon (Flag as inappropriate) on the suggestion.
- Confirm when asked.
You can flag each suggestion once, and you can’t flag your own. Flagging is available on the website. To report anything else, such as a plain comment or an observation, contact us.
What Happens Next
- When a suggestion has been flagged by two different members, it’s hidden and the moderators are alerted.
- Moderators review it. They either restore it or take further action.
- A hidden or withdrawn suggestion no longer counts as a vote for the member who made it. Members who agreed with it keep their own votes.
Community Guidelines
- Be respectful and constructive.
- Focus on the fungus, not the person.
- Respond kindly to mistakes. Everyone makes them.
- Share what you know generously.
- No adverts or spam.
If you’re having an ongoing problem with a particular member, please get in touch so we can look at the bigger picture.
Note: Flagging content that doesn’t break the guidelines, or flagging to settle a disagreement, is itself against the guidelines.
